Vaccine Information
As of February 4th, 2021, people age 65 and older (or age 50 in a multigenerational house) are currently eligible for vaccination. Your first step is to verify your eligibility through the Washington State Department of Health. Following that you will need to search for locations which have appointments for vaccinations.
No matter where you go for the vaccination you will probably wait in line, possibly for a couple of hours from start to finish. You need to decide if you want to stand in line or sit in your car. Currently, Amazon vaccination sites and those at Evergreen, Overlake, Virginia Mason, QFC, and Safeway are all stand-in-line. Evergreen Fairgrounds and Arlington Airport vaccination sites are drive-thru where you wait in your car and they inject you through an open window (with nurses on both sides of the car so you can use both windows).
The process right now is a little frustrating but should, hopefully, improve as more vaccine becomes readily available. We offer the information below as a beginning point but encourage you to work with your health care provider and state resources as they update more frequently.
COVID VACCINATION RESOURCES
Washington Dept of Health COVID resource page: This is the state Dept of Health vaccination location resource page. You can use this page to find locations anywhere in the state if you want to travel to get a better chance at securing an appointment time slot. For instance, there are a lot of sites in Seattle (look under King County) and Everett (search under Snohomish County). New vaccination sites may begin more quickly than this site can be updated but it is a good place to start. Vaccine Locations :: Washington State Department of Health
Maybe a better option is to look at King and Snohomish County Health District sites which manage delivery of the vaccine to the population and would have more timely information about availability of appointments. The health department COVID vaccine pages are: COVID-19 vaccine - King County and COVID Vaccine Info | Snohomish Health District
Every vaccination site is different, with its own navigations and signup process, so it may be better to learn how to navigate in a couple of sites so you can get to a signup quickly if you hear in the news that the state has received a new shipment of vaccine. Locally it’s probably best to focus on 3 sites: Evergreen Fairgrounds Evergreen Hospital Overlake Hospital.
