Confirmation

Our Confirmation program revolves around relationships, learning, and service. We seek to provide a safe environment for youth to ask questions and look curiously at the Lutheran Catechism and stories from the Bible. We wonder together how these sacred sources speak to us as individuals and as a community. We seek to enhance relationships among students and with caring adults serving as group leaders, as that nurtures our relationship with God. 

Confirmation consists of 3 2.5-short program years, beginning in 7th grade and ending with the Confirmation service in the winter of 9th grade. 7th and 8th graders meet weekly from September through March on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. 9th graders meet weekly from September through February at the same time.                               

Here is an outline of a typical Wednesday evening: 

  • Opening question/activity

  • Word/video/light conversation                                                                                        

  • Gather around food (snack time) – check-ins with the group 

  • Activity discussion  

  • Blessing/sending 

Registration

To participate in Confirmation and any other youth activities, all youth must have a registration form on file. You only need to fill out this registration form once per year as it will cover all youth activities EXCEPT overnight Retreats. Holy Spirit Lutheran Church is committed to keeping children safe and asks all adult volunteers to attend our Safe Haven Training.
