Community Pantry

Welcome to the Community Pantry! In cooperation with members of our neighborhood, HSLC hosts a 24/7 Free Community Pantry near our back parking lot on 124th Street. Church and community members are encouraged to donate as you’re able and to take what you need.

FAQ’s

What items are needed?
Single-serving meals and portions are most appreciated. Keep in mind that folks may not have can openers or microwaves available. Some frequently requested items:

Baby food and formula
Single serving proteins (tuna, slim jim, chili)
Single serving fruit
Pop-top soups
Peanut butter
Small boxes of cereal or crackers
Single-serving vegetables
Protein or granola bars
Bottled water
Shelf-stable milk

What about non-food items?
Yes! Popular items include:

Diapers (sizes 1-2 especially)
Pet food (cat and dog)
Travel-size toothpaste, soap, and shampoo
Deodorant
Laundry pods

Are there items that should not be donated?
The pantry is not cooled and we want to make sure to avoid attracting pests. Please do not donate:

Dairy items that would require refrigeration
Expired food
Opened packages
Bakery items
Produce

When can I donate and when I can take items I need?
The pantry is open 24/7 and both donations and needs are welcome at anytime. If you have a large quantity of items to donate, please consider coming into the church during office hours (9am-2pm, Monday-Friday) so we can store overflow.

Why is the door pink?
We’re glad you asked! The original pantry was created and maintained by community member Nix Sapphire. Because that pantry was painted pink, the new and larger pantry you see today has a pink door in honor of Nix and all Nix’s work on behalf of those living with food insecurity.
