Interfaith Amigos
A rabbi, a pastor, and an imam walk into a sanctuary…and it’s not a joke. Join us on Monday, April 22, as we welcome the “Interfaith Amigos” – Imam Jamal Rahman, Rabbi Ted Falcon, and Pastor Don MacKenzie – whose friendship began after 9/11 and has since become a wonderful example of interfaith conversation. The Amigos appear monthly on KUOW, and travel extensively to speak about how they listen and learn from each other. With compassion and humor, they talk honestly about their similarities, their differences, and how people of all faiths can work together. A freewill donation will be taken to support their work, and childcare will be available. Don’t miss this unique opportunity!
For more about the Amigos, visit their website.
Vision 2013
At the end of November, Trinity Lutheran Church, a congregation of declining membership, contacted us to ask us to consider creating a new ministry out of their building located on Rose Hill across from Lake Washington High School. We began that conversation with a brainstorming session at the January congregational meeting. Over the next few months, the Vision Team (a group of leaders from Holy Spirit and Trinity) will be researching and refining the ideas from that brainstorming session. A proposal will be brought to the June congregational meeting, and at that time, we will vote on whether to proceed.
The Vision Process is available here. Several congregational meetings are scheduled along the way, for additional conversation and feedback: March 17, April 21, and June 16. If you have an idea or concern, you can also email the Vision Team at visionteam@hslckirkland.org, or contact the Vision Team members. We hope that you will participate as much as possible in this process and in the prayerful discernment of the future.
