Small Groups

Are you caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or any kind of cognitive disorder? This kind of caregiving can be physically, mentally, or spiritually exhausting. That is why it is so important for caregivers to take time to care for themselves, too. Please join us at HSLC the first Wednesday of every month at 3:00 pm in Classroom 2.

Karen Koenig, Executive Director of Olds Friends Club and Linda Whitesale, Director of Community Support for Alzheimer's Association will co-facilitate. Please contact Pastor Rita through the church office if you have any questions.

The Artist Group is a group of artists and appreciators of art. They gather on the 3rd Saturday of every month to learn more by watching documentaries on famous artists, to discuss all different kinds of art, and to share original work with one another for constructive feedback. All levels of experience are welcome.

This is a fun way to share fellowship with other church families who have children of a similar age. Each fall, families are assigned a group who will gather 3 times during the school year. One family hosts the meal and sets up time. Another family provides the salad or side and the other family will provide dessert. The host family provides the rest of the meal and beverages and invites a 4th family as “guests” for the evening.

Garden Fellowship is a group of people who love to garden and want to meet other gardeners. The group has been a great opportunity to fuel a passion for gardening, meet new friends, and to serve others that could use a hand. Garden Fellowship typically meets the first Monday of the month at 7 pm in the Auditorium.

Join the “fix-it” men of the church on Wednesday mornings from 9:30—11:00 am as they work on projects such as painting, maintenance, repairing, and basically anything that needs fixing! After work, they go to lunch.

This small group is a mid-week bible study that meets for an hour on Wednesday mornings at 11:00 am and is led by one of the pastors. We usually study the lessons for the upcoming Sunday.

All men of the church and their guests are welcome to join for great food, fellowship, and enlightening discussions every 4th Saturday, September through May at 8:30 am (they do not meet in December). Knitted or crocheted prayer shawls are made with love and are available to anyone. You’re welcome to join the group on Thursday nights from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the lower fellowship hall, or you may work on them in your own home. A prayer shawl pattern book is available with multiple patterns or you may use your own.

The Quilters meet on Thursdays at 9:00 am and 7:00 pm in the Lower Fellowship Hall. The quilts are made for various local ministries and Lutheran World Relief. Materials are funded by the HSLC budget and donations. Skill level is not important, but a sense of humor is! Contacts: Kathy Doran or Donna Morris through the church office.

Our quilters make a beautiful quilt for each high school senior. The quilts are presented to the graduating seniors during a worship service in Spring followed by a reception. Contact: Jacquie Brissey through the church office.

This is a rotating dinner program and a fun way to share fellowship with other church members. Join Supper Club and enjoy great food and fellowship! New groups start every October and April.
