Faith Squad: Wednesday Newsletter

It’s the third day of Faith Squad: God’s Love Unmasked! Today we learned about the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  He fought peacefully for equality and justice – just like a superhero!  Rather than a cape and shield, he carried a Bible and the words in his heart.  His words and passion for racial equality and justice inspired so many generations to lead with their hearts as well.

Let Justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream! ~Amos 5:24

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is the only non-president with a national holiday in his honor.  Martin Luther King Jr. day in January is a great day for a service project with your family while they have the day off from school.  Kids can come up with some pretty amazing ideas on how to work for peace!

We are accepting donations of non-perishable food items to go to Hopelink, a local food bank that serves families in our community. We are also collecting school supplies this year, which will be distributed by Lutheran World Relief to families with elementary students who are in financial need.  Please bring your donations anytime during the week so that we can reach our goal of 1,000 items! Involve your child by letting them choose the food or school supply items to donate.

Tomorrow night, participants and families are invited to our celebration in the fellowship hall at 6:30pm. The ice cream celebration is a time when parents can meet the volunteers who have gotten to know your wonderful children, and hear the songs we have been singing all week.  There will be a slide show of this week’s adventures and then…you guessed it…ice cream!  Bring your family and join us!

  • Signing In: Please sign your child in each day. Please make sure the person picking up your child has the numbered tag, this makes for easier exiting.
  • ID Bracelets and Number Tags: Your child is to keep the bracelet on the entire week; once it is removed the only way to put it back on is to get a new one with a new number. Please keep the number tag in a safe place because you will need to show the tag when you pick-up your child.
  • Arts & Crafts Pick-up: Beginning Tuesday, your child’s art and science take home projects will be in a paper bag for easy collecting. Please empty the contents each day and leave the bag so we can reuse it.
