Faith Squad: Thursday Newsletter

It’s the fourth day of Faith Squad: God’s Love Unmasked! Time has flown for everyone and we have all learned so much about God’s love this week already! Today we learn about a young girl named Malala Yousafzai, an advocate for equal access to education for all children, regardless of their gender. Even though Malala faced life-threatening opposition from the Taliban, she knew that her voice could revolutionize peoples’ hearts. The strength of God’s love is so expansive and strong, it touches on everyone equally, no matter who they are, where they live, or what their abilities are. God makes us all unique. We are different from each other, and yet we are all expressions of God, made in God’s image.

He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself”. Luke 10:27

Faith Squad, powered by the love of God.

On the double, whenever there is trouble,

we’re the Faith Squad,

powered by the love of God.

You and me in a new identity,

we’re the Faith Squad.

Malala has received many honors, in addition to her Nobel Peace Prize. Even though she just graduated from high school, she has received one honorary master’s degree and two honorary doctorate degrees from worldwide respected universities. She also has “Asteroid 316201 Malala” named in her honor!

When you return to pick up your child, you & your child will be checked at the exit doors to make sure the number tag matches the child’s wristband number. Please keep the number tag easily accessible during check-out. Your child’s safety is very important to us! Also, don’t forget to visit the tables in the Narthex to pick up your child’s arts & crafts projects each day on your way out. See what they’ve been working on!

We are accepting donations of non-perishable food items to go to Hopelink, a local food bank that serves families in our community. We are also collecting school supplies this year, which will be distributed by Lutheran World Relief to families with elementary students who are in financial need. Please bring your donations anytime during the week so that we can reach our goal of 1,000 items! Involve your child by letting them choose the food or school supply items to donate.

  • Signing In: Please sign your child in each day. Please make sure the person picking up your child has the numbered tag, this makes for easier exiting.
  • ID Bracelets and Number Tags: Your child is to keep the bracelet on the entire week; once it is removed the only way to put it back on is to get a new one with a new number. Please keep the number tag in a safe place because you will need to show the tag when you pick-up your child.
  • Arts & Crafts Pick-up: Your child’s art and science take home projects will be in a paper bag for easy collecting. Please empty the contents each day and leave the bag so we can reuse it.
