The Gathering in Houston Texas

June 26th - July 3rd

Every three years we go to the ELCA Youth Gathering and join 30,000 high school youth from across the country for a week of fun, service, worship, games, and more! If you haven't been to the Gathering before, then you are in for a treat! It's hard to describe all the amazing activities, speakers, and memories! Join us for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

This year, the Gathering is in Houston Texas. Together we will fly down to Houston, learn about the city, participate in service projects, hang out as a group, participate in awesome activities, visit a water park, and more!

Want more information? Go to our informational meeting on Sunday, October 15th in the youth room! This meeting is for youth and parents, and will have all the info you need.

To register, just fill out the form below, and then turn your $200 deposit into Danielle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will we be doing?

All sorts of stuff! Describing the Gathering is pretty hard--most people who've been would tell you it's hard to describe, but REALLY fun. Come to the info. meeting to learn more. Basically, we'll do a little service work, a few fun activities, and then head to a stadium every night for an awesome evening program with music and speakers.

How long has the Gathering been happening?

The Gathering has existed in some form or another for decades. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. even spoke at an early Youth Gathering! This has been a tradition and a rite of passage for Lutheran young people for generations.

Who can come?

Anyone currently in grades 9-12 is welcome to attend! Talk to Danielle at youthfamily@hslckirkland.org if you have any questions.

How much does it cost?

Altogether the trip costs $1,600 per person. HOWEVER, we at HSLC cover half that cost through fundraising, meaning each youth only pays $800. This money covers all your expenses during the week including your flight, meals, hotel, and all activities including your ticket to the water park. AND, as always scholarships are available. Don’t let price be a reason not to participate!

How do I register?

Registration is due by October 29th. You can fill out the registration form below. Then turn in your $200 non-refundable deposit to reserve your spot. Please note that scholarships are available to any youth. Don't let price to be a reason not to participate!
